Youth
"What is youth? It is not only a period of
life that corresponds to a certain number of years, it is also a
time given by Providence to every person and given to him as a
responsibility. During that time he searches, like the
young man in the Gospel, for answers to basic questions; he searches
not only for the meaning of life but also for a concrete way to go
about living his life. This is the most fundamental
characteristic of youth."
"I would like to sum up by stressing that the young are searching
for God, they are searching for the meaning of life, they are
searching for definitive answers: What must I do to inherit eternal
life? (Lk 10:25)"
- His Holiness John Paul II, Crossing the Threshold of Life
Good Shepherd Emmaus consider the youth as precious gifts from God, deserving our love and guidance in their search for truth. In an effort to inspire our young people and teach them the love of Jesus, Good Shepherd Emmaus encouraged and support the formation of a youth music ministry. “Salvation” is a youth band consisting of young and talented musicians age 14 through 17. These dedicated and hardworking youths plays at the 5:30 p.m. mass every fourth Sunday of the month. They also play contemporary Christian songs, pop, and rock, at parish and community events. “Salvation” welcomes new musicians all year round. You may contact them via e-mail at youthforjesus@cs.com
Keep visiting us as we are planning on giving a retreat for the youths. It promises to be a weekend of enriching their faith, a weekend of fun and fellowship!
